GREDA and Knoxville Move Forward
The Knoxville City Council has been working with GREDA to bring in potential developers.

GREDA President Tom Schmidt presented the Council a rough draft of a Request for Proposal.

Schmidt tells WGIL it's important the Council approved the RFP so when it came to talking with developers it was clear all parties involved were on board.

"We wanted them to pass judgement on this tonight so again if we're sitting at the table in negotiations somewhere we can demonstrate having the support of the council and there's a inherent creditably in those conversations, we're not just somebody floating a balloon to see if something flies somewhere that we actually have the authority of the City Council behind us."

Schmidt says now that the city has approved moving ahead with the RFP they're hoping to get responses and would like to get as many as they can by the end of the year.

He says approaching attracting developers this way will open up the development pool for ideas they may not have thought of.

The Council also approved a rate increase for garbage disposal that will bring residents monthly bill to ten dollars a month.

This will go into effect starting next month.
