Lowering Residents Energy Rates
Knoxville residents came out Tuesday night to the Hurd-Hendrick Community Room to hear information on the upcoming electricity aggregation referendum.

On the November ballot resident will vote yes or no for the referendum but before then residents came out looking for information.

Resident Vicky Ufen tells WGIL she now understands passing the referendum would benefit the community as whole and the community will be grouped together as one larger unit to get residents cheaper electricity rates.

"Basically the way I understood it is that the community will come together as if it's a business and a lot of people understand that if you have a factory that their going to be able to go out and get a deal on their source of energy. So that's what will be doing."

Ufen says she plans on passing what she learned at last nights meeting to other residents so they can go to the polls with an understanding of what's being asked.

If the referendum is accepted the next step will be for the city to find the right energy suppliers to provide the city with the best rates.
