District 205 building committee raises questions
District 205 presented their base and alternate bid options to the building committee for a multi-purpose athletic facility yesterday.
With the base bid option, the project comes in 60-thousand dollars under budget.
Including some of the additional scope in the alternate bid, the price is raised by 1.5 million dollars.
Not all committee members were on board, however.
Despite the recommendation for full board approval, Committee member Bob Fulton tells WGIL he is not in favor of the larger, alternate bid.

"I am worried we are making a two-million dollar adjustment to a fifteen-million dollar project in the third year," says Fulton. "We haven't even got a good start on this."

Representatives of the Physical Education and Music Departments were present -saying they thought the additional scope was well thought out.
The multi-purpose athletic facility is part of a larger master plan put forward by the district.
Building Committee Chair Barry Swanson tells WGIL they're looking at the expanded project to have as a centerpiece they can take pride in.

"It seems the recommendation from the administration is that this is something we can afford," says Swanson. "So it's not just a situation where we look at things irresponsibly, fiscally."

Several committee members voiced support for the alternate bid, saying the fitness of our kids is extremely important.
The full board will be asked Monday to support the current schematic design.
