Fundraising for Renovation Hits Eight Million
The Alumni Hall Renovation project is on its way to becoming a reality.

The project has officially surpassed the eight million dollar mark leaving the college about three million dollars shy of their over all goal.

Over the past six months the college restored the curved front drive and rebuilt some of the large stone stairways on the outside of the building.

Knox College President Teresa Amott tells WGIL the college was able to raise the eight million in a short amount of time but they're not rushing into any construction work right away in order to insure all the funds are available to fully complete the project.

"In uncertain economic climate you want to be sure you have all the money in hand before you start the project you want to be sure you can finish it. So we're going to be prudent and careful and we will not actually bring in construction crews until we have raised all the money."

Amott says she can't say exactly when construction would start.

She says it depends on when they finish fundraising.

Amott says she's very optimistic they'll reach their final goal of 11 million dollars.
