BREAKING NEWS: Nicholson Not Guilty of Attempted Murder, Guilty of Other Counts
FIRST REPORTED 7:55pm 10/23/12 A Galesburg man has been found not guilty of Attempted Murder, but guilty of other charges, for an assault on a woman at the beginning of the year.

A jury of eight women and four men found Nicholson guilty of Aggravated Battery and Aggravated Domestic Battery following eight hours of deliberations Tuesday. Nicholson was accused of brutally beating a 41-year old woman prosecutors contended was his girlfriend at her South Whitesboro Street home January 21st.

Nicholson contended on the witness stand that he and the victim were "cool," but weren't in a relationship, despite him having a key to her home.

Public Defender Jim Harrell says he will talk with his client before determining whether or not he'll appeal. Assistant State's Attorney Elisa Tanner says she's pleased that Nicholson will be going to prison for the injuries he inflicted.

Nicholson could face as much as 14 years in prison when he's sentenced January 17th, 2013.
