Knox County Board Meets, Gets Confronted by County Workers
Employees from the Knox County Nursing Home, Sheriff's Department, and State's Attorney's office were showing their discontent with contract negotiations before last night's Knox County Board meeting.

More than 50 people picketed in front of the court house in an attempt to get the County's attention.

Several of the picketers said they were unhappy with a lack of pay raises this year and are frustrated with increased health insurance premiums.

Randy Lynch with AFSCME tells WGIL the protesters are all dedicated to their jobs.

"Those are all people that worked that make this county work and the county board needs realize that instead of asking for concessions and demanding concessions they need to sit down at the table, negotiate with us and come to a fair agreement for all."

No negotiations on a union contract are currently scheduled.

Eight of the protesters confronted County Board members during the meeting to request that negotiations continue.
