Knox County Board Confronted by Protesters at Last Week's Meeting
Last Monday's Knox County Board meeting saw the approval of several items.

The board churned through the agenda quickly, starting with an approval of proclamation of 4H month in the county.

That was after several members of the AFSCME union voiced their discontent with the state of contract negotiations.

A woman who only wished to be identified as Denise says County workers have been fighting for a contract for over a year.

"$75,000 dollars that would pay for everything alrighty, but why you fighting it. But I invite you all to come see me at the Knox County Nursing Home cuz I know a lot of you don't even have the faintest clue what we do out there."

In addition to the 4H proclamation, the board approved paying it's bills for work done on the Knox County Courthouse.

The board also tabled work on revising zoning ordinances.

That was after some discussion on whether or not a 30 day tabling was appropriate for the work.

The committee amended the ordinance with a vote of 9-4.

Then approved the new language 8-5.
