Local Residents Brace for Hurricane Sandy
Abingdon resident Laura Rammage boarded a plan Sunday headed for a vacation in Boston.

The last thing on her mind was worrying about surviving a hurricane, she was on vacation and there to have a good time.

However, like most of the East Coast Boston could not escape the wrath of Hurricane Sandy and Rammage tells WGIL when they first arrived in Boston the weather didn't seem too threatening just rainy but that quickly changed the next day as Sandy got closer to the coast line.

"Monday morning when we woke up and we drove up to Vermont it's when it started getting really really windy and rainy and when we were coming back from Vermont it started kicking up real bad and then last night at the hotel in Massachusetts it was just really really windy. It wasn't as bad as like everybody said it was gonna be."

Rammage says she woke up Tuesday everything was fine, she even headed out to the Atlantic sea coast where the water was choppy and wavy.

She says the weather is quote "just perfect."

Rammage says she would describe her first hurricane as a big thunderstorm--just like the ones you find in Galesburg.
