Schilling Bring in Big-Name Politicians
A candidate for Congress used the start of a rally in Galesburg today to refer to his opponent as "Senator Dick Durbin's hand-picked candidate" -- then had several Washington politicians speak on his behalf.

17th District Incumbent Bobby Schilling campaigned at Galesburg's Standish Park this afternoon on his "Bob's for Jobs" tour, and brought his wife Christie, two National Republican Congressional Committee officials, and a Congressman from Florida with him.

NRCC Vice Chair and Oregon Congressman Greg Walden says Schilling has proven results for his district.

"I tried to get the chairman of the AG Committee, my friend Frank Lucas to hold an AG hearing on the farm bill out in my district in Oregon and I'v like been there a few years. I could never get him out there but Bobby got one of four hearing on Ag issues right here."

The Farm Bill remains holed up in Congress, but could be taken up during the so-called "lame duck" session.

A number of area legislators and candidates were at the rally as well.

Schilling faces former newspaper reporter Cheri Bustos in Tuesday's election. She'll be in Galesburg tomorrow.
