Local Resident Still Pushing To Be Heard
Last month the Galesburg City Council approved the sale of 616 Indiana Avenue to the Galesburg CILA Holmes Partnership even with the objections of local residents.

Galesburg resident and neighbor to 616 Indiana Avenue Rosalee Ballenger has not given up fighting to change the Mayor and councils decision allowing for a group home on the property.

At Monday's council meeting Ballenger says she attempted to address Mayor Sal Graza and City Council Members regarding a petition she created but says she was denied the option to speak.

Ballenger tells WGIL she thinks the Mayor was wrong to deny her others who signed her petition to speak.

"I feel that he was trying to silence my voice, my daughters voice, and the voice of the people who signed the petition. And I don't think that was treating me fairly, or those people or my daughter fairly."

Ballenger says she was told she could give a copy of the petition to the Mayor's secretary after the meeting.

She says so far she hasn't heard from the Mayor's office about the petition.
