The Galesburg Public Library Moves Forward With Plans For a New Building
Last week, the Library Board decided to send out a "request for quotation" for design plans on a new library.

The deadline has passed and the library announced they have received several designs from different firms.

Finance Committee Director for the Library Mike Kroll says each of the teams exceeded the required experience.

"We received proposals from nine teams of architectural firms who wish to be considered as a potential architect for this project and it goes and explains what we're looking for and whatnot. The next phase there will be to whittle that down to our group of four or five finalist."

The library is now awaiting the go ahead from the City Council to transfer the land for development to the library.

The library hopes to have an architect selected by the end of the year.
