Woman Killed in Grocery Store Parking Lot Accident
An elderly woman is dead after an accident Wednesday afternoon trapped her under her car. Galesburg police responded to an accident in the parking lot of the Aldi located at Main and Henderson streets just after 3pm with the reports of a victim trapped beneath her vehicle. Police reports show that upon arrival they witnessed 85 year old Virginia Huse of Alpha trapped under the rear wheels of the vehicle driven by her 87 year old husband Paul Huse.

Police say after placing her groceries in the trunk and returning the cart, she walked in front of the car which allegedly lunged forward striking the woman, knocking her to the ground. Paul told police the car then lunged forward and didn't remember anything after that. A witness on the scene said he heard screeching tires from a vehicle and turned to see Virginia under the car.

According to the witness, the car allegedly lunged forward a second time, running over the victim trapping her under the rear tires of the car. The victim was removed from under the car, and transported to Cottage hospital.

Upon his arrival to the hospital with police, Paul Huse was notified that Virginia was pronounced dead at approximately 4pm. Police have not issued any kind of citations in the accident.
