Illinois AG Says No Chance for Obama's Senate Seat
A U.S. Senate seat for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan? It's an option that Gov. Rod Blagojevich has, but highly unlikely, according to Madigan.

Madigan says she has "zero" chance of being offered the job. She spoke of an "interesting political situation" in the state.

The governor and Madigan's father, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), have not seen eye to eye on a wide range of issues, including funding for a capital bill that would create thousands of jobs and repair crumbling roads and infrastructure across the state.

Madigan said she is focused on her job as attorney general and considering a run for governor. She first made mention of a possible campaign last month.

Blagojevich has the duty of appointing someone to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. Those thought to be on his list include outgoing Illinois Senate President Emil Jones (D-Chicago), U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Chicago) and Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth.
