Fire Damages Galesburg Home
Galesburg Fire investigators are still looking into the cause of an early morning fire Sunday that caused damage to the back of a home.

Galesburg Fire officials say crews were called to a home in the eight-hundred block of North Cherry Street around 3:45 a-m Sunday, where they say fire was coming from the home's back porch. Crews were able to put the fire out within ten minutes, but they say an investigation into the fire lasted at least several hours and continues Monday.

Officials say the fire was mostly contained to that back porch, but did cause some damage to the home's kitchen, along with smoke damage in the rest of the home. It's not yet clear if the fire was an accident or criminal, but neighbors report hearing a "boom" around the time the fire started.

Two people in the home were able to escape the home safely. There were no injuries.
