Gilson Native Elected to Knox County Board
A man who says his sense of level-headedness and his ability to make decisions on behalf of his county is joining the Knox County Board. Democrat Jeff Jefferson defeated Republican David Serven to obtain the District 5 seat on the Knox County Board by gathering 53 percent of the vote. Jefferson is a father of 2 sons who has served on the Knoxville School Board for 20 years, is also a volunteer firefighter in Gilson and was a scoutmaster. He says he has always been interested in politics and always wanted to run, and even has been approached by the Democratic Party in the past about a position but never acted on it. He says now was just the right time.

Jefferson tells WGIL he's really glad he won. "It's just a nice feeling to have the support of the voters of District Five," Jefferson said. "I wanted to thank everyone for their support. and tell Dave Serven he did a nice job."

Jefferson says he listens to the facts and studies the issues as best as he can to make the best decision on behalf of his county is one of his best attributes. He also said its ok to disagree as long as he gets to sit down and discuss the issues. Jefferson will take his seat the board in December.
