State Thinking of Ways to Honor Obama
The election of someone from Illinois as president means instant history for much of Springfield. The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency is considering ways to honor Barack Obama’s campaign addresses outside the Old State Capitol.

That is where the former state senator declared his run for the White House in February 2007. In August, he finished his journey to the Democratic National Convention with a stop in the same location, introducing running mate Joe Biden.

What's more, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is contemplating "Obamabilia" as well. Dave Blanchette, spokesman for both the Historic Preservation Agency and the library, says the library, as official repository of state history, already has the speeches Obama and Biden gave in August. He says the museum is considering an Obama exhibit as well.
