Death of Galesburg Man Allegedly At Hands of Sheley Ruled Homicide
A little more than a week after a coroner's inquest had been scheduled and then canceled for the death of a Galesburg man allegedly killed by a man suspected of eight murders in two weeks, an official cause of death has been determined.

Knox County Coroner Mark Thomas has issued a statement indicating that no inquest will ever be held into the death of 65-year old Ronald Randall, and that he filed a permanent death certificate Thursday ruling the death a homicide, and was due to blunt force injuries to his head.

Randall was killed in late-June, allegedly at the hands of 29-year old Nicholas Sheley, as part of a killing spree spanning from Sterling and Rock Falls, to rural Saint Louis. Sheley allegedly bludgeoned Randall to death and stole his pickup truck, leaving Randall's body behind the East Main Street Hy Vee store.

Sheley is being held in the Knox County Jail on ten-counts of first-degree murder and seven other felonies for the death, and faces charges for the seven other murders.

A return of subpoena hearing has been scheduled for November 19th in Sheley's Knox County case, with another case management conference scheduled for New Years Eve, at which time it likely will be learned if Sheley is mentally fit to stand trial.
