IRS Might Have Money for You
You could have some "found money" in the form of a federal tax refund.

The Internal Revenue Service says more than 100,000 checks have been returned this year because the IRS does not have a current correct address for those people. 3,600 of those checks are for Illinoisans, averaging just over $1,000 per check.

Sue Hales, spokeswoman for the IRS in Illinois, says in addition to people simply moving from one place to another, some people's lives change through marriage, divorce, or other means.

The unclaimed checks are despite the IRS cross-checking with the Postal Service. Hales says you can go to the IRS web site and click on "Where's My Refund?" or give them a call.

Information can be found online at www.irs.gov. The phone number is 1-800-829-3676.
