Peoria-Based Guard Unit Returning from Afghanistan
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- A group of Illinois Army National Guard soldiers is scheduled to return home after a year in Afghanistan.

The guard says about 70 members of the Peoria-based 238th General Support Aviation Battalion's Company B are due back in Peoria today. A ceremony to welcome them home is planned tonight.

According to a guard news release, members of the company worked across Afghanistan. They delivered millions of pounds of cargo by air and carried thousands of troops around the country.

One member of the company suffered a serious injury during the deployment. None were killed.

The company is not part of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat. Several thousand members of that unit recently returned from Afghanistan.
