Friday the 13th Phobia? You Have Plenty of Company
CHICAGO (AP) -- This has been a tough year for people worried about something bad happening on Friday the 13th.

This Friday marks the third time this year that the 13th has fallen on a Friday -- something that only happens once every 11 years or so.

The date has long been considered bad luck by many. It's said to prompt some people to rearrange travel plans, delay surgery and sign contracts and even has a few people so nervous they don't even leave home.

People who pay attention to this kind of thing say that among those who changed their plans because of this date were Napoleon and President Franklin Roosevelt.

But some say talk about rearranging travel plans and putting off surgery is overrated. Both hospital and travel officials say they're just as busy on Friday the 13th as they are any other day.
