| Weekend Raid Nets Suspects on Heroin Charges |
Two area residents are behind bars facing drug charges after a weekend raid at their Galesburg residence.
Galesburg Police reports indicate Saturday morning just after 5:30, members of the Illinois State Tactical Response team, MEG Agents and Galesburg Police conducted a search warrant at 1460 South Seminary to search the residence, garage, and car of 33-year old Heath Williams and Michelle Shane who was staying at the address.
Upon a search of Williams, police say they found a baggie containing suspected heroine and a foil ball containing the drug which later field tested positive for heroine. Police located cash, two digital scales, two bags of pills and three grams of cannabis inside the residence. Police also found 3 cameras positioned to observe exterior doors and a portable receiver connected to a small television inside the house.
Williams was handcuffed and transported to the Public Safety Building where he then allegedly complained of stomach pain and was sweating profusely. Williams told investigators he had swallowed possibly a gram of heroin as agents were entering the house. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later sent to the Knox County Jail.
Williams faces preliminary charges including possession of heroine, possession with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and criminal fortification of a residence while Shane faces a preliminary charge of possession of cannabis.
Williams has a $150,000 bond as he awaits time in front of a judge. |
