OSF Saint Mary Holds Drive For Iowa VA Center
Those who receive services from the Iowa City VA Medical Center are being assisted by the employees at OSF Saint Mary Medical Center. Employees of the medical center have been gathering items all week to donate to the VA Clinic in Iowa City. This donation drive was organized as part of the hospital's 100th Anniversary celebrations and was held this week in honor of Veterans Day.

"We contacted the VA Clinic and learned there was a need for many items that are provided to the veterans who receive assistance from the clinic," said Shannon Jansen, Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator at OSF St. Mary. "We have a number of employees that have family members in the service, or who are Veterans themselves, so it seemed fitting to host this donation drive as a way to give back to the community."

The goal was to fill a conference room at the hospital with the donated items which included general toiletries, postage stamps, phone cards and clothing. The Iowa City VA Medical Center has been improving the health of the men and women who have served in the military since 1952. A representative from the VA hospital will be at OSF St. Mary Medical Center on Monday, November 16th at 10am to collect the donated items.
