Vonage to Settle Investigation Involving 32 States
CHICAGO (AP) -- Internet phone service provider Vonage has agreed to pay $3 million to Illinois and 31 other states to settle an investigation into some of its business practices.

In a filing Monday with the Securities Exchange Commission, the company says it also agreed to provide refunds to affected customers.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says the agreement is designed to ensure that Vonage fully discloses all of its fees and conditions. Madigan says the settlement resolves complaints from consumers who couldn't cancel their Vonage service.

The 32 states are sharing the $3 million settlement to cover legal and other costs. Any refunds owed by Vonage are on top of that amount.

Claims can be filed through the attorney general's office.
