Knox College Makes Good Fullbright Showing
GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) -- A western Illinois college is racking up Fulbright Scholar grants.

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently released its list of national leaders in Fulbrights. Galesburg-based Knox College rated well compared to similar colleges with two faculty already winning grants for 2009-2010.

The U.S. government's Fulbright Program supports faculty research and teaching outside the country. There are also student grants.

Since the 1950s, eight Knox College faculty and 27 students have received Fulbright grants.

Its winners this year are Karen Kampwirth and Jeremy Day-O'Connell. Kampwirth will teach and research feminism and politics at the University of Buenos Aires. Day-O'Connell will do musicology and linguistics research at the University of Edinburgh.
