Quinn to Respond to Questions About Thomson
CHICAGO (AP) -- Governor Pat Quinn says he'll review a letter he received from Illinois Republicans about a possible deal to sell a state prison to the federal government to house Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Seven lawmakers, including Congressmen Mark Kirk and Don Manzullo, have sent Quinn a letter with a list of questions about the Thomson Correctional Center.

One of the things they asked about is trials for the detainees.

Quinn says the question about trials was one for the federal government, but he says he believes there would be none in Illinois.

The lawmakers have been outspoken critics of a possible deal to sell Thomson to the federal government so it can be turned into a federal prison and used to relocate detainees.

President Barack Obama has promised to close the military-run detention center in Cuba.
