Farm Resource Center Cutting Back
The problems of rural Americans aren't going away, but some services at a Southern Illinois-based agency that's meant to help are being cut back. Farm Resource Center started during the farm crisis of the mid-1980s.

Executive director Roger Hannan says his group is a "conduit" between rural Illinoisans and mental health services. He says FRC outreach workers often deliver their services at the clients' kitchen tables.

FRC - using donated services - has put together a DVD to explain what it does and how the lack of state funding has hurt. An excerpt of the video is available on FRC's web site. Hannan is hoping word gets to the legislature and the governor how important his group's work is, adding he received a voice mail saying, "Tell the governor this suicide is on him."
