Picasso Sketches Sold at Bloomington Auction
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) -- Three sketches by Pablo Picasso have been sold for $36,000 at a central Illinois auction.

The artwork sold in less than two minutes at Bloomington Auction Gallery's annual after-Thanksgiving estate event.

The sketches were fragments of a dust cover for the 1954 French book, ``Picasso and The Human Comedy.''

The drawings show Picasso's wife, Olga, a male nude and a flute player and his mistress.

Auction manager Jason Penny says he wasn't surprised that the hundreds of auction-goers largely ignored the tattered, yellowing Picasso drawings.

He correctly predicted that most of the traffic would come online and by phone.

The final price of the drawings will likely top $40,000, plus tax.

The names of the buyer and seller weren't disclosed.
