Galesburg Native Has a Hand in "Cyber Monday"
If you thought "Black Friday" was a bonanza, try "Cyber Monday" -- and a Galesburg native is helping to push online shopping forward.

Ellen Davis is Vice President of the National Retail Federation, which can be considered one of the driving forces behind "Cyber Monday" -- the supposed busiest online shopping day of the year.

The former Ellen Tolley says the term started around 2005, but really began in earnest long before that as the day many people do shopping on the internet.

Davis tells WGIL the NRF has set up a website that will help you get the best bang for your online buck. "We aggregate the best holiday promotions from more than 700 retailers," Davis said. "It's been a very fun project to be part of largely because all of our proceeds benefit our scholarship fund, which raises money for students pursuing careers in retail."

Davis says visitors to www.cybermonday.com should be able to find different sale items, and every hour on the site a different special deal will be featured.
