Top Official to Speak About Insurance Exchanges
CHICAGO (AP) -- A top federal official is set to speak on how he's guiding the creation of websites where consumers will be able to shop for health insurance.

Joel Ario directs the Office of Insurance Exchanges in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He's speaking Wednesday afternoon in Chicago at an insurance industry meeting.

The nation's new health care law asks states to build the exchanges by 2014 when most individuals will be required to buy health insurance.

The exchanges will be similar to Travelocity for airfares and could be expensive for states to create. The law says the federal government will step in and build them in states that don't.

Ario was insurance commissioner in Pennsylvania before taking the post in President Barack Obama's administration earlier this year.
