Walgreens Reinstates Glencoe Druggists
GLENCOE, Ill. (AP) -- A campaign by customers of a Glencoe drug store taken over by Walgreens has forced the company to reinstate two druggists who worked at the location for years.

Steven Feinerman and Eddie Levin were to be sent on their way by Walgreens after the giant company took over Parkway Drug Store in the city north of Chicago. After learning of Walgreens' plans, customers of Parkway Drugs went on a letter-writing and e-mailing binge.

The Chicago Tribune reports 72-year-old Levin said Wednesday he has been offered a job at the Glencoe store. The 70-year-old Feinerman says he is talking to Walgreens officials. A company spokesman says they may reach an acceptable agreement shortly.

Walgreens spokesman Robert Elfinger says the company has heard from many Parkway Drugs customers and it understands what the 30-year-old drugstore means to Glencoe.
