Monmouth Turned Down for U of I Extension Main Office; Galesburg, Macomb Picked
FIRST REPORTED 3:00pm 11/10/10 When it became apparent that University of Illinois Extension offices would consolidate, a committee was formed to determine the best plan for Knox, Warren, Henderson and McDonough offices.

The committee recommended, among other things, that a main office be centrally located in Monmouth. But the new Unit Director, Lisa Fulkerson, tells WGIL, that wasn't going to work.

"My understanding of what came out in the letter that we got the other day, was that after our regional director had toured the facilities, he just did not feel that the office space was going to have enough space to allow for educators, county directors, secretarial staff, those kinds of things, to all be housed in one main office," Fulkerson said. "So, it was determined that we would split them between two offices."

The two main offices are in Galesburg and Macomb with satellite offices in Monmouth and Stronghurst.

Fulkerson became unit director of the consolidated offices November first, after working as McDonough County's director.
