Quinn Honors Recently Fallen Soldier on Veterans Day
(IRN) -- There was no day off for students at Wheaton North High School on Veterans Day, where Gov. Pat Quinn made his Veterans Day remarks.

Quinn marked Veterans Day with a speech at the school where students were honoring one of their own who lost his life in battle, Staff Sgt. Robert Miller. A Wheaton native, Miller posthumously received the Congressional Medal of Honor earlier this year for his heroics while serving in Afghanistan.

Miller was killed Jan. 26, 2008 while saving the lives of his Special Forces team and 15 Afghan soldiers.

"There is no greater hero than one who is willing to lay down their life for our country," Quinn said.

Students also heard from Paul Herbert, director of Cantigny, a military museum in Wheaton. He gave a brief history overview of the Medal of Honor and the heroism exhibited by those to whom it has been awarded.
