State Group Headed to Haiti
(IRN) -- One group has taken its volunteer effort to the next level. Instead of raising money for Haiti to rebuild after the earthquake, the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies is sending five members to Port au Prince with money.

Dalitso Sulamoyo, president and CEO of IACAA, says the group raised more than $10,000 from member agencies to cover the costs of equipment and supplies for this project. The group will build a couple of classrooms and help repair other rooms in a school in the Cite Soliel slum in Port au Prince.

"We are going to Haiti to help because there are people in need and it the right and necessary thing to do," said Sulamoyo.

This is the first time his group has "gone global." He hopes his group can adopt the school and keep the relationship alive.
