Opposition to Taylorville Clean Coal Facility
(IRN)-Illinois business leaders say a proposed clean coal facility for Taylorville is a good idea, they just want the company building it to pay for it itself.

The presidents of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Manufacturers' Association and Illinois Retail Merchants' Association say Tenaska is trying to get state government to pick winners and losers. The company is seeking state approval for the energy facility.

Tenaska's vice president, Bart Ford, says Illinois is simply one of many states which need to find clean energy solutions, and says the business people are being disingenuous if they act as if Illinois is alone.

"Electricity is the single least controllable cost in the business," says David Vite, president and CEO of the retail group. He and the others say everybody is going to pay if Taylorville Energy Center is a go.
