Support Needed for Galesburg Rescue Mission
The Galesburg Rescue Mission and Women's Shelter once again needs the public's help in helping to meet a good-sized portion of their goal.

The Rescue Mission's annual "Harvest Time Share-a-Thon" is tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and will once again be broadcast on WGIL. Executive Director Dave Sholl says in addition to opportunities for praise and worship, there will be stories of how the Rescue Mission helps people, including testimony from clients.

Scholl tells WGIL the $45,000 the Rescue Mission hopes to generate tomorrow is a little under 15 percent of their budget.

"The budget has grown over the years, when I started there over 22 year ago, it was just a little over $90,000 I do believe. And to it's changed but the 45,000 will go towards our general operating budget, winter utilities, and also our Christmas basket ministry that's coming up here in December."

Sholl says many of the people that need help from the Rescue Mission says about two thirds are from the Galesburg area. He says that percentage has grown over the years.

Sholl says the economy and substance abuse are some of the factors that lead to people needing the Rescue Mission's services.
