The IRS Might Have Money for You
The Internal Revenue Service still has about four-million dollars it wants to give to 3,600 people in Illinois -- people that may have been eligible for a tax refund, but never actually received it.

IRS spokesperson Sue Hales says, however, that number of people owed refunds is about the same as in years past.

"We do have this list every year," Hales said. "And, for the past few years, it has been right around 3,500 tax payers on that list."

Hales says the main reason most of that money hasn't been given to its rightful recipients yet -- they've moved or gotten married or had some other similar occurrence since they filed their 2009 returns.

Hales says it would be ideal to get the refunds out now, but it doesn't usually happen that way.

"All we find in many cases, is that once people file the next year's tax return, we'll get an updated address, and we can send the check out to them, once we get that new address," Hales said. "But, we're trying to get that money out as quickly as possible. The holidays are coming up."

Hales says getting that refund is as simple as going to www.irs.gov and clicking on the "Where's my Refund" link, where you can find the opportunity to change you address.
