Share-a-Thon Helps All Who Need It
The 27th annual Harvest Time Share-a-Thon for the Galesburg Rescue Mission was a success.

And success stories from those who have received services from the organization, is what they are most proud of.

The rescue mission helps individuals and families who might be suffering economically due to the economy or because of addictions.

The Mission is also associated with the Galesburg Women's Pregnancy Center who helps young mothers, according to director Deb Goodrich.

"In general, I would say that most of the people that we see are probably between the ages of anywhere from 15, 16 sometimes, up through high school, into probably their mid-20's," Goodrich said. "Most of the time, it's girls that do not have the financial resources to provide for the basic needs of their child."

The Share-a-Thon, broadcast on WGIL, raised over $48,200, roughly $3,000 over their goal.

That money will go toward operating costs, winter utilities, and Christmas baskets.

The mission is also offering a free thanksgiving meal to the public at noon on Thanksgiving day.
