Unusual Thanksgiving Week Weather
Breaking records is usually a good thing, that is, unless, we're talking about weather in November.

The National Weather Service says record highs all across this part of Illinois were broken, including here in Galesburg. Forecasters in Lincoln say a 73 degree temperature recorded at the Galesburg Municipal Airport surpassed a 67 degree record set 102 years ago.

But with those warm temperatures came rain and severe thunderstorms.

Between the Weather Service offices in Lincoln and the Quad Cities, winds gusts upwards of 70 miles per hour in some parts of the area, and hail eclipsing golf ball sized hail was reported in other areas.

There were no major damage reports in Galesburg other than some downed trees, and there are currently no power outages in the area, and there were no major outages reported yesterday.

In terms of regional damage, emergency managers in Fulton County say in one rural area, for example, a barn and three out buildings were damaged, and the roof of one of those buildings was blown upwards of a football field away.

Now, for something completely different, cold. Temperatures were struggle to get up to the freezing mark by Thanksgiving day, but will rebound some by the weekend, making Black Friday shopping potentially more than a little chilly.
