Syrian Ambassador Visits IL
(IRN)-In a speech at the University of Illinois at Springfield, the Syrian ambassador to the U.S. extended his country's hope for peace with Israel, but tempered that with the explanation that Israel must leave the Arab territories.

Ambassador Imad Mousapha says the Obama Administration has been much more open to working with both Syria and Israel on a peace accord. He explains that it was ironic that the U.S. would negotiate directly with some countries, but would demand that Syria break relation with Iran when the U.S. was opposing Iran. Moustapha said, "You used to negotiate with the Russians, with the Chinese when they were the Red Commies, you know, the evil guys from beyond the iron wall. Why can't you sit and discuss your problems with the Iranians and not ask a third country to sever relations with Iran because you don’t like Iran? I think this is fair."

Moustapha has a blog. It can be found at http://imad_moustapha.blogs.com/imad_moustapha_the_blog/.
