Republicans Pleased with Election Results
Knox County Republicans had little to complain about Tuesday night.

Election results showed the GOP doing well in many races in Knox County for both local and statewide offices.

County Republican Party Chairman Marc Young tells WGIL, the outcome was good for many.

"It looks like we're going to have a new Congressman in the 17th, and we're really, really excited about that," Young said Tuesday night. "I think we corrected, possibly, a wrong seen by many here in the county with the election of Carol Hallam as Knox County Recorder, and we couldn't be happier for her. It looks like Don (Moffitt) is going to return to the Illinois House, and we just have a lot of great things going on in Knox County."

Young referred to Congressman elect for the 17th disrict Bobby Schilling, who defeated incumbent Republican Phil Hare.

Democratic Party headquarters was virtually empty by the time WGIL arrived, after Hare had conceded to Schilling.

Also 74th district state Representative Don Moffitt retained his seat against opponent Democrat Elizabeth Double.
