Hallam Elected Knox County Recorder
It was a good night for Republicans across the state and in Knox County.

Republican candidate for Knox County Recorder, Carol Hallam, had an easy victory over Democrat Elizabeth Padilla Smith.

Hallam won with 63 percent of the vote over Smith's 37 percent in combined totals from Knox County and the city of Galsburg.

Hallam tells WGIL she has the experience and knowledge for the position and has already been working on the budget for the office.

"The budget, which has already been in the process...I was able to lower our Recorder budget by over $30,000, which I think is quite an accomplishment," Hallam said. "I just looking forward to continuing the services of the Recorder's office."

Hallam has worked in the Knox County Recorder's office for 20 years and was named interim recorder in April after Paula Monzo resigned.

Elizabeth Smith currently works in the Knox County State's Attorney's office.
