Optimism on Black Friday
A Galesburg native who analyzes the retail industry says this holiday season looks to be pretty good for shoppers and businesses alike.

Ellen Tolley Davis is a spokesperson for the National Retail Federation, and tells WGIL she hasn't been able to say the last couple of years that things would be good for businesses, but she's glad that this year could be.

"We're expecting a little bit better, sales holiday season will be up a little more than two percent. This year for Black Friday, we think that up to 138 million people will go shopping after Thanksgiving sometime during the weekend Friday through Sunday."

Davis says that means to her, that the economy is indeed improving, people have a few extra dollars to spend, but they're likely going to continue to spend on a budget.

She says that means consumers are looking at some great deals if they go out, or even if they decide to stay home and shop online, either now or on Cyber Monday.
