Early Morning Worth the Effort on Black Friday
It's not uncommon to see at least some people camping out in front of stores Thanksgiving evening, to wait for the doors to open on Black Friday.

But Thursday night, some shoppers didn't go to sleep at all.

Walmart was open all day for Thanksgiving and shoppers started showing up at Walmart in Galesburg around 10 pm Thursday.

One shopper, Becky Canfield, tells WGIL's Emily Ford her new 32 inch T.V. was worth the wait, in the end.

"We had to get here at 11 o'clock, I guess it would be [Thursday] night, and waited in line for a few hours until 2 o'clock and they give you a band and you come back and pick it up at 5."

"Was it worth it?" Ford asked.

"Right at this moment I'm think no, but tomorrow it probably will be after I get some sleep."

Canfield said she hadn't actually intended to purchase a television but the store was out of the toy she had originally come to purchase, and decided the TV was too good a bargain to pass up.

Walmart hired six security guards to keep things under control and four Galesburg police offers were stationed inside the store from 10 p.m. on.

One of the officers said opening much earlier was running much smoother than everyone running like a stampede through the doors at one time in the morning.
