Lincoln Film Crew Comes to Illinois
(IRN) -- A new movie about Abraham Lincoln could be shooting in Springfield. Dave Blanchette, spokesman for the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, says he met this month with a team from Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks -- a team which included Daniel Day-Lewis, who would star.

Blanchette says the movie is to begin production next fall, though whether it would film on location is undecided. He says Day-Lewis seemed very interested in the Lincoln locations and artifacts he saw during his visit here, adding the historic sites of central Illinois lend an authenticity which could not be duplicated in Hollywood.

Blanchette is not a stranger to hosting big productions, what with two campaign appearances by then-U. S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) at the Old State Capitol.
