Quinn Heading to Springfield for Veto Session
CHICAGO (AP) -- Governor Pat Quinn is headed to Springfield where lawmakers are gathered for the Illinois General Assembly's veto session.

Quinn was headed to the Capitol later Monday and planned to spend most of the week there.

He says lawmakers have time to get lots of work done, including a vote on legislation allowing gay couples to enter civil unions.

Quinn says he will work hard to get the bill passed. He says now is the time to pass the measure. He says Illinois wants to be seen as a tolerant state and passing such a measure would be a good way to show it.

He says it also could help the economy because of the message it would send to businesses about how their employees would be treated in Illinois.
