Celebrating Christmas Trees
One of the bigger fundraising events for a local organization is officially underway.

The Discovery Depot Children's Museum's annual "Festival of Trees" is going on now through the end of the week.

Discovery Depot board member Doug Gibb is helping organize this year's event, and tells WGIL the showcase of decorated trees available all week long at the museum culminates in the chance to socialize and even take one of those trees home later this week.

"It is a fun night, it is an adult evening, we do have complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvre as well and as well as our silent and our live auction."

Gibb tells WGIL there are some very special items that will be up for bids in that live auction.

"We always have some great sports memorabilia, we always have some basketballs, we'll have Bruce Webber this year, of course we'll have Iowa as well, we always have something to do with John Deere."

A complete listing of auction items and photos is available on the Discovery Depot Festival of Trees page on Facebook.

The auction night is Thursday from five to eight p.m. The decorated trees can be viewed by contacting the Depot.
