Voter Turnout a Positive in Knox County
Most polling places throughout Knox County were fairly steady Tuesday.

County Clerk Scott Erickson tells WGIL says voter turnout was about 50 percent, which isn't bad for a non-presidential election.

Erickson adds that plenty of people also took advantage of early voting options.

"Very happy with voter turnout," Erickson said. "Early voting, absentee voting, seemed to be going real well. The office was always busy. We always had voters coming in. I think there were a lot of races out there that people were really interested in."

Knox County had all it's precincts reporting before 10pm Tuesday, and there was no wait for early and absentee tallies. Those votes were counted during the interim between the time polls closed and waiting for precincts to report.

Those votes, however, were not added into the finals totals until all precincts had reported, giving early voters more anonymity according to Erickson.

The totals are unofficial for another 14 days until other mail in ballots can be tabulated.
