Galesburg School Board Discusses Improvement Monday Night
The Galesburg School board Monday evening will discuss a plan that many schools in the state are having to deal with in order to essentially get right with the federal No Child Left Behind law.

The District-205 board will hear a presentation from Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Joel Estes, will give a presentation on a District Improvement Plan the board will then be asked to adopt.

While most of the district's schools did made Adequate Yearly Progress under the federal No Child Left Behind law, the district as a whole has been placed in "Corrective Action" status.

What the state calls a group of "Regional System of Support" coaches have been assigned to the district, and will help with the presentation on how the district measures itself, and will also help form the district's action plan.

The District-205 board Monday will also accept the district's audit, and will adopt what is projected to be a tax levy equal to last year, but will result in a lower rate on most property tax bills.

The Galesburg School Board convenes at 7pm Monday at Lincoln School.
