World War II Veterans Honored at Galesburg Parade
The Galesburg Veterans Day parade likely had it's largest number of grand marshals this year than ever before.

More than 20 World War Two veterans that took part in the Quad Cities Honor Flights were the marshals this year, riding school buses in the parade Sunday afternoon.

Allan Yountquist from Oneida was on board and tells WGIL he couldn't be more proud of his service.

"You make associations that you never forget," Yountquist said. "So far as feeling good about [my service], you're damn right."

He adds that he is also thankful for volunteers who help put together the honor flights and such. "I've got to say it's a cynical world in a lot of respects," Yountquist said. "To see these folks that are plain old American volunteering to put on this show and put on this show right here today, that's good enough for me."

Yountquist was a weather forecaster for the Navy and spent time in the south pacific.
