Knoxville Hosting Public Forum On Main Street Development
University of Illinois Extension is giving Knoxville residents a chance to weigh in on a suggestive design for their Main Street.

Extension Educator and Knox County native Carrie McKillup tells WGIL the forum will be Tuesday night at 6pm at the Hurd-Hendricks Community Room.

"We're going to have a presentation and then we are going to be asking community members, business owners-- anybody is invited-- what they would like to see in terms of design, improvements, facades, those kinds of things on Main Street Knoxville," she said. "So we would encourage people to show up."

McKillup says if Knoxville residents are unable to attend Tuesday night's meeting, they can pick up copies of the presentation at City Hall and the public library.

Financially, she says development of Knoxville's Main Street area is eligible for some funding through the TIF district.

McKillup says it's up to city officials to determine the balancing of those funds for business incentives and infrastructure.
